Today our niece
(Ryan's cousin), Amy, turned a year old! She had her birthday party at Scallywags, which is an indoor, soft-play centre
(a bit like Chuck E. Cheese's, but without the video games). This is also Ryan's first "official" birthday party that he has attended as a guest. Woohoo...a spot to fill in the baby book!
I can't believe a year has already gone by -- the same way I can't believe seven months have gone by with Ryan. It really is mad how fast time flies when they're so small!
Matt wanted to proudly carry Ryan in when we arrived...but he was quickly baby-napped for a munch by his Nan. By the looks of things, I don't think Ryan minded one bit. In fact, at one point he was quite mesmerised by one of her rings and kept reaching out to get it until he ended up on her lap again, I think it was his plan all along. He was especially tickled when Uncle Daz came and sat next to him with the birthday girl herself!
As one may guess, Ryan's favourite bit was the one involving food. We all sang 'Happy Birthday' before Amy had some 'help' to blow out her candles. Then the kiddie party guests had some nibbles, but the only thing I found suitable for Ryan was a bit of cheese sandwich. He nommed on that for some time and then I offered him some chunks of melon that I brought along...cantaloupe, watermelon, and honeydew. He shared some of his of honeydew with Amy and we think she rather liked it. Then, Ryan finished off his meal with some Raspberry Ripple ice cream. In fact, he had a hard time parting with the spoon when it was all gone. Big surprise?
Now we look forward to tomorrow when we go to Em & Daz's and can see what Amy got for her birthday. Then again, Ryan's mostly excited for Sunday Dinner.
Mmm! Yorkies!
