Year 2 Day 59: Return to Sender

I don't think it's any secret that a lot of cats find much amusement in locating the most random places to nap, so it wasn't a surprise to learn that some scratching and crunching paper noises Matt and I heard tonight were coming from dear kitty making himself comfortable...inside my recent shipment from Books for Children.

I had ordered some books a few weeks back to use as Christmas gifts and some of them arrived a bit damaged, so this was the box containing the replacement order.

We must have watched him for five minutes in complete silence, occasionally glancing back at one another and trying our best not to burst out laughing as he scratched to "fluff up" the paper and turned in circles countless times before settling to begin bathing himself as if it were his daily routine.

The irony is that Matt had actually purchased a soft and comfy "cat bed" in the past for Myst, and the little snob didn't want anything to do with it. Go figure.

It seems he would much rather have abrasive packaging for his bedding. That, or it's a devious ploy to convince the RSPCA that we don't care well enough for him to give him nice things. Hmm?

Day 117 of 365: Fluff Cycle

Mr. Nose-Patrol decided to check things out while I was getting some laundry done earlier. Matt has told me how he does this, so when I went upstairs to get the load from the washer, I came back armed with the Kodak. Sure enough, there he was! In fact, his tongue was out of his mouth so I suspect he was giving himself a wash. Uhm, Myst...this is the dryer.

In other news, I think the lurg is on it's way out. I'm down to a slight tickle in my throat with a cough. I'm hoping in the next day or two it will be gone altogether. For now, I still have some Honey & Lemon Lockets to soothe my throat.

Day 45 of 365: Tough Life

This is a common topic of conversation between me and Matt -- how hard Myst has it, being a cat. No job. No responsibility. No worry about paying bills. Just lounging around all day being given tuna and crunchies...not a care in the world. Don't let the picture fool you, though. He's not as sweet and innocent as he looks -- keeping us up all hours of the night while he chases his ball down the stairs (carrying it back up repeatedly to do it again) or scampers across the bedroom floor only to start tearing at the wallpaper. Each night we place bets how many times it will take before his fuzzy rump gets locked in the kitchen.

I met with Sue and the kids again today to see where the boys come out of their classrooms. I'll start next week watching the little girl in the morning and then picking the boys up at school in the afternoon for 3 days. Not bad considering I still have open times available for supply work if needed, and I have registered as well with a tutoring agency, which pays £16.50/hr. for tutoring clients' children in the local area. Between those three jobs I should be able to start bringing in a decent amount of money on my own to help out.

Still, I wish I could be a cat.
