Y4 - 288/365: Something About Ryan

Yes, my son "may have" had 'Something-About-Mary' shampoo-hair.

And yes, I "may have" snapped some photos.

Okay, okay...I totally "may have" had full intention of posting them in my blog for all to see.

Give it 10-15 years and he will want to kill me for these "moments."

Y4 - 287/365: "I Not Fweepy, Mommy."

He honestly took offense when I offered him his milk after I saw a yawn big enough to allow a freight train to pass through. However, a bit of warm milk and Zzzzzzz.

Noooo, he's not sleepy at all.

Y4 - 286/365: "Sound Off! One-Two!"

As the days draw on, the end of the school year in Great Britain gets closer and closer and my working days slowly dry up. Ryan was with his Nana and Grandad today along with his cousin and his 2-year-old autonomy has hit full force. He is genuinely one of the happiest boys we all know, but with that also comes overexcited and a hint of bossiness and defiance.

We keep reminding ourselves that this is part and parcel for a toddler and we have always known Ryan to be determined and intense. Rather than shouting, we do try to explain things in a calm way to him and ignore poor behaviour (when it isn't harming another). He has the naughty spot, which he hates and will almost always immediately tell us he has "calmed down," and we have posted rules in our house that, in all honesty, he couldn't give two hoots about.

Still, it's a bit of good timing me having some time from work over the next 6 weeks because I do believe Ryan will be attending Mommy's Bossy Boy Bootcamp.

Y4 - 285/365: Dolphin-Boy

It is interesting that the closer I get to the end of my fourth year on my 365 blog, the more I cannot wait for it to be finished so I can re-vamp a bit and change some things around. I love taking my photos and will continue to do so whether or not I continue a daily photo-blog, but I feel now, when I read other blogs, that I have lost a bit of my "zing" that I used to have when blogging and I've pigeon-holed myself a bit on what I end up writing about. I've said before now that blogs anymore tend to be solely of Ryan, and while he is one HUGE part of my life, he isn't the only part and I don't want to be so self-restricted to only being able to discuss one topic. There is more to me than *just* being a Mommy...although I love it more than anything.

Anyway. Moving forward, Ryan brought something to my attention tonight. He is no longer such a little yes-man and doesn't always just agree with what I have to say...

Example: He was playing with his wind-up, bath dolphin and I made a comment about the dolphin flicking his tail. I then jokingly said to Ryan, "Can you flip your tail like the dolphin?" Normally a question like this would get an empty, thoughtless..."yeah." But not tonight. Oh no.

Ryan paused for a moment and looked a bit perplexed before replying, "No."

When I asked him what he meant, he simply shared with me, "No Mommy, I can't flip my tail. Mommy, I don't have a tail."

Well-played, young grasshopper!

Y4 - 284/365: Even Batman Has to Eat

The photo was taken tonight, but last night after I returned from Mecca Bingo with Emma, Matt informed me that Ryan has a new identity. As I've mentioned before, he's been running around saying he is "Super Ry," so when he was wooshing around with his Batmobile, Matt told him that Batman drove that car and Batman was a superhero.

With this newsflash, Ryan retorted, "I'm Batman!" From there he proceeded to jump down from the sofa and whoosh himself around the room chanting, "I'm Batman! I'm Batman!"

Y4 - 283/365: Shades of Grey

The clouds outside have been full of all sorts of shades, so Ryan insisted on his new Thomas umbrella to accompany him on his mooch around the garden this afternoon.

And of course, there is this version. Fifty Shades "Freed" and I'm nearly there!! I never thought when I started this trilogy I would like it the way I do, but for anyone who has properly read any of the books, they would understand there is more to the book than just the steamy scenes. In fact, I can now appreciate why some people get upset at others who slam the book for being "trash" or "no good" without even properly reading it all the way through.

"I only made it to the third chapter of the first book," is NOT an excuse! There is so much more of a storyline there and even if one went as far as to quickly skim the blush-worthy bits, you would still get the gist and learn a lot more about why the characters are the way they are.

So, if any readers out there are thinking of throwing in the towel on this book, please don't. Give it a chance. You may find yourself surprised and enjoying quite a bit of it, like me and a few others I know.

As my sister-in-law, Emma, pointed out...you know the saying, "Don't judge a book by its cover?"

Well...apply that now.

Yes, the writing may get to some and the phrases may be overly British and overly used...but if you can get past those bits, you'll see what I'm on about.

And no, I didn't read it to Ryan...in case you were wondering! He climbed onto my lap and asked, "Mama, what those words say?"

I told him they said lots of different stuff and asked if he would like to learn to read words in his books some day.

Just then a smile spread across his little face and he exclaimed, "Yeah! Just like YOU!"

Bless.

Y4 - 282/365: PULL!

We all opted for a Sunday pub lunch today at The Round Oak and then back to Em & Daz's after for our usual Sunday veg-out sesh. Mommies in the front room...Daddies in the kitchen/man-cave.

That is...until someone (accomplice not pictured, above) decided they "NEEDED" Auntie Emma to come play. Just look at that strength!

And in case you wondered what his face looked like during said attempted Auntie-abduction (which failed, incidentally)...Auntie Emma is a mirror image of Ryan's little-man mug!
