Day 188 of 365: Welcome Home...?

Or not.

We arrived 10 minutes before our scheduled appointment only to learn we would NOT be receiving the keys today. Apparently the electricians have dropped the ball and we won't have the keys back until Thursday.

To lighten the mood, we decided to treat ourselves to Bacon, Sausage, Egg & Mushroom with Brown Sauce "between two bread trucks" as Matt says, from Little Devils. Then when we got home and went to warm them up a bit, we realised we PACKED the dish for the microwave...along with the mugs for a coffee...AND the silverware to stir...

Looks like we'll be here a few more days...with internet. A real shame, I say.

Day 186 of 365: F'n Saturn!

My affectionate nickname in college displayed proudly on the back of my day-glow orange Lincoln Lagers tee. This was my "assistant coach" shirt for Ohio University Intramural Softball and the only time I wear it anymore is to accompany my PJ bottoms to sleep in. The thing is so hideous and obnoxious, I wouldn't subject the public to it on purpose.

Perfect shirt for glossing the banister though!

Day 185 of 365: Interoffice Memo

Notice the words in the middle of the photo...'staff meeting.' No, it wasn't a mistake that I received this memo as I am now the official Year 5 teacher!! The climax of my otherwise short-term, 1/2 day teaching and tutoring post came mid-week when things started a bit cryptic and ended with the offer of the job. Of course I accepted!! The best part is that this will more than DOUBLE my daily pay through the agency and it will give me proper experience teaching in a UK school. I will also be able to continue my one-on-one tuition with students once school resumes after break. Someone will come to my room in the afternoon a couple days a week to take over so I can continue tutoring on an afternoon.

At this point, the post will extend until the end of the school year, which is around the second week of July. I'm hoping that if things go well, it could mean a continued position with the school for the 2009-2010 school year as well.

I was in the class Thursday and Friday, but I wasn't to let on to the children that their teacher would not be returning. They will be notifying the parents over break and upon the return, it will be officially announced.

Things are looking up!
